Race of Wisdom Academic Scholarship Application
Application Deadline: July 5, 2024
Please read and follow the instructions carefully prior to submitting your application. Students selected for the Race of Wisdom (ROW) Academic Scholarship will be notified no later than August 31, 2024 for the 2024-2025 academic school year.
Application Instructions:
If selected, you will be asked for documentation to support the data you provided. Likewise, all correspondence and award agreements will be generated from the personal information submitted. So, please use proper grammar. Your evaluation starts with the application.
Scholarship Period – The ROW Academic Scholarship is for one (1) academic school year. Awardees and former applicants will have to reapply each year to be considered for the next academic school year.
Eligibility – The ROW Academic Scholarship is limited to student currently enrolled at the College of West Africa (CWA) High School. Students enrolling into CWA for the first time (New Students) may also apply but must be accepted into CWA prior to a final decision of the ROW Scholarship Committee or two weeks prior the beginning of the academic year (whichever comes first).
Financial Need – Applicants must demonstrate a financial need. Although having a financial need is not the only criteria to being awarded this scholarship, it weighs heavily in the evaluation process.
Academic Requirement – Applicants must have a grade point average (GPA) of 80% to be eligible; however, continuing the scholarship for the entire year is contingent on having an 83% GPA. Scholarship recipients must submit their official report card to the ROW Scholarship Committee after each period. Additionally, recipients must grant the ROW Scholarship Committee permission to receive the academic and performance records directly from the CWA administration.
Personal Performance – Applicants must not have any suspensions or other negative personal performance for at least two academic school years prior to applying. If such record exists and there are extenuating circumstances, applicants may explain those circumstances.
Written Essay – Applicants must write an original essay and submit it as part of this application. The essay must be in response to the topics/questions described in the application, be free of plagiarism, and written in a manner to demonstrate the applicant academic prowess.
